Before you cast

  • Choose a pond for the fish you need. Daisy Gardens has the widest selection: 35 species with the Gold Rod. A smaller selection can give better odds for a particular fish. Compare ponds.
  • Check your rod. The Twig Rod can reach 38 species; the Gold Rod reaches 70. A fish above your rod’s weight limit breaks the line. Compare rods.
  • Rarity and weight are separate. Some rare fish are light enough for a starter rod, while 8 common species exceed its limit. Browse the fish list.

Where these numbers come from

Every chance on these pages is computed from the game’s catch roll, its rarity curve, the pond’s fish list and your rod. How the odds work sets out all four steps, and names the three numbers TTR has never published.
